There are certain journeys that stay with you long after you return home. My recent safari through Tanzania was one of them.
As a travel advisor, I spend my days researching destinations, evaluating experiences, and helping clients turn travel dreams into reality.
No amount of research or planning could have fully prepared me for experiencing Tanzania firsthand. Even after years of helping clients explore the world, this was one journey that exceeded every expectation.
From the moment we entered Tanzania, I understood why safari holds such a special place on so many travelers' bucket lists. The landscape seemed endless—golden plains stretching toward the horizon, punctuated by acacia trees and extraordinary wildlife. Every game drive brought something new. One moment we were quietly observing elephants in the distance, and the next we were watching playful baboons interact with one another.
There is something deeply grounding about being in a place where nature sets the pace. The constant noise and distractions of everyday life begin to fade away. You become more present. More observant. More appreciative of the world around you. If fact, you cannot be diverted by your phone, emails, or piles of paper on the desk. The daily life "stuff" just disappeared for me in a way it never has before.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the journey came before sunrise. Floating silently above the Serengeti in a hot air balloon, watching the landscape awaken beneath us, felt almost surreal. As the first light spread across the plains, wildlife moved below and the vastness of the region became even more apparent. It was one of those rare travel experiences that no photograph can fully capture.
I also came away with a greater appreciation for what luxury travel can truly mean.
Luxury on safari isn't always about extravagance. It's about thoughtful details, exceptional guiding, seamless logistics, and accommodations that allow you to experience the destination comfortably while remaining connected to the natural environment. Every aspect of the journey felt intentional, allowing us to focus entirely on the experience itself. I experienced lodges, tented camps, a coffee plantation & even an farm to table immersive farm where everything was grown on sight. All hold magical surprises for different budgets, expectations and pace.
Perhaps the greatest surprise was how emotional the experience became. Safari invites you to slow down and observe the natural world in a way that is increasingly rare. It creates moments of awe that are difficult to describe and impossible to forget. Tanzania offered a reminder of the value of slowing down, paying attention, and appreciating the extraordinary beauty that exists in the natural world.
The Bottom Line
As I reflect on this journey, I understand why so many travelers return from safari already planning their next visit. Tanzania delivered incredible wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and exceptional hospitality, but it also offered something more meaningful: perspective.
It was a privilege to experience it firsthand, and I look forward to helping future clients discover it for themselves. Another amazing place to visit that brings adventure, awe and self awareness. I really love travel.
I'm currently planning a small group safari for October/November 2027. Details will be released in August, and those on the interest list will get the information first.
